Replica watches are exact duplicates of the original, minus the quality craftsmanship and expensive materials, which is why they don't stand the test of time. Nowadays there are hundreds of replica goods on the market, from fake Tiffany jewellery to knock-off Gucci bags. They enable consumers to get a taste of the real thing at cost price...however many people can see straight through these products because they simply aren't made from quality products.
If you visit the local markets whilst holidaying abroad you will no doubt see stalls upon stalls of replica Rolex watches at an extremely attractive price. Many tourists think they've found a bargain - and by the time they have stepped off the plane on their journey home the watch has stopped working.
I even know of someone who has bought a fake Rolex - which they wear with pride - but this watch doesn't work when they raise their arm a certain height, this isn't exactly the purpose of a watch is it?
Expensive watches don't just look good, they make you feel good - replica watches just don't have the same effect. Genuine Rotary watches, for example, may be on the pricey side but at least you know it will last you for years upon years. The styling of these watches are so classic that they will never look out of place.

The famous saying goes, "Fakes are worn to impress plastic minds", which basically means that if you wear a fake watch you are simply trying to impress others, and make that think you have something that you don't - if you really care what people thing you will buy the real deal.
Another point worth considering is that if you buy a genuine watch now, it may actually become a 'timepiece' in years to come. It's something that can be passed down within the family, and may even go up in value - a replica will never do this!
If you have a replica watch that still works, chances are that it lacks precision, the use of poor quality mechanisms inside the watch mean that replicas are never 100% accurate.
If you buy cheap, you buy twice - it's always worth spending that little bit extra to ensure that you can really enjoy your watch for years to come.
